Stanozolol is an anabolic steroid. It stimulates anabolic processes and inhibits catabolic reactions caused by glucocorticoids. It increases muscle mass, decreases fat deposition, improves tissue trophics, promotes calcium deposition in bone, preserves nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur, potassium, sodium and water in the body. Haematopoietic action is determined by an increase in the synthesis of erythropoietin. Anti-allergic action is determined by an increase in serum fraction C1 complement. Androgenic (moderate) action may contribute to the development of male secondary sexual characteristics.

Side effects:

In women – virilisation symptoms, inhibition of ovarian function, menstrual disorders, hypercalcaemia.

In males – during prepubertal period – virilisation symptoms, idiopathic skin pigmentation, preservation or cessation of growth (calcification of epiphyseal growth zones of tubular bones); after puberty – bladder irritation, gynaecomastia, priapism; in the elderly – prostate hypertrophy or cancer.

And the following side effects are also observed: progression of atherosclerosis, peripheral oedema, dysregulation of liver function with jaundice, changes in the structure of leukocytes, pain in long tubular bones, hypocoagulation with a tendency to bleeding.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to the drug, prostate cancer, breast cancer in men, breast carcinoma in women with hypercalcaemia, CPI, severe atherosclerosis, liver and kidney failure, acute and chronic prostatitis, pregnancy and lactation.
